MGNREGA transition: VB-G RAM G.
From 1 July 2026, the Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act replaced MGNREGA. It guarantees up to 125 days per eligible rural household per financial year for adult volunteers undertaking unskilled public works. Private farm hiring above is not scheme-financed work.
How to demand public work
- Check or obtain your household's rural job card with your Gram Panchayat. Existing cards remain valid during transition.
- Demand work through the Gram Panchayat / designated official channel and request a dated acknowledgement.
- Track the work allotment, official muster roll, days used, and wages paid by government DBT.
- For delayed work allocation or payments, seek the statutory allowance/compensation and grievance procedure with the competent authority.
